Answers to common questions about Kentlake Football

Q.  If I know I’m going to miss a team meeting or event what do I need to do?

A.   You should call Coach Shepard 24 hours in advance or tell him personally.  Do not have a peer do it for you!

Note this may impact your playing time during the upcoming or current week especially if you miss events on a

regular basis.  Unexpected events require you to call coach Shepard ASAP and it may still impact your participation.

Q. I have a conflict with club baseball or basketball and Football.  What do I do?

A.  I expect you to trade off.  I don’t expect the commitment to be one-sided.

You have a big game sure go.  Sometimes it depends on what you are missing. For example: the Hall of Fame

dinner was planned for months and  it is missed for a summer league basketball or baseball game that is a bad

     choice in my mind.

Q. What grades do I need to have to be eligible?

A.  A good rule of thumb is that you needed to pass all but one of your classes during the last grading period.

Another way: is your cumulative GPA a 2.0 or higher in the last semester or overall?  If the answer is YES you are

      elgibel

Q.  Will negative behavior around the school or on the field impact participation in football?

A.  YES: If you have discipline problems in school, it will negatively impact your participation in football as it is an extra-      curricular activitiy.    I decide to skip my 1st period)  You are truant; therefore you miss practice with an unexcused

abseice which means you will miss a quarter or more next game.

If you are doing the right things in school you are welcome to participate as a student-athlete

 Q. I have a doctor’s appointment and will miss an entire practice or most of the practice will it impact my

playing time in  the upcoming game?

A.  YES, to some extent circumstances will vary.  If you miss the whole offensive or defensive session than your playing

time would be impacted.  It will depend upon the circumstances as well.

Q.  I’ve been out of practice for two weeks with an ankle sprain and have not been able to practice with the

team.  Will I get my starting position back when I’m cleared to play?

A.  NO others have played in your place and you will have to earn your spot back.

You will not be excluded from playing however.

Q.  I’m going to miss practice because I have to make up a test I missed.  Will it impact my participation in

      practice?

A.   Yes/No it depends on how much practice you miss and how often this happens.
